The coordination between viticulture and winemaking teams is essential when choosing fruit, to achieve the optimum level of flavor and balance
in the wine. Stone Cellars vineyards are located throughout California, in regions that offer ideal growing conditions of particular varietals of
grapes, delivering on each wine’s commitment to varietal expression.

Traditional winemaking techniques were used to extract the utmost depth in color and flavor from the grapes. A majority of the grapes were
aged and seasoned in oak to add flavors of nutmeg and clove that lend an additional complexity to the final blend. A small portion of Cabernet
Sauvignon was added to enhance depth and structure, as well as a small amount of Petite Syrah for additional berry flavors and some enticing
floral aromas.

The rich fruit flavors in this wine are concentrated but wonderfully balanced. It is full of ripe cherry and black stone fruit on the nose, along with a hint of mint. The intense flavors of plum, blueberry and blackberry are all enhanced by warm, brown spices that linger on the finish. The Stone Cellars Merlot is perfect as a pre-dinner aperitif, as well as an ideal match for a variety of rich dishes such as chili con carne or pasta puttanesca.
